The Problem Space
Job seekers weren’t failing due to skill gaps. They were overwhelmed by a chaotic system. Applications scattered across emails, spreadsheets, job boards, and DMs. Missed follow-ups. No oversight. No clarity. The problem wasn’t effort. It was the lack of structure.
Research & Insights
Through interviews and journey mapping, three core insights emerged:
People lose opportunities because they forget to follow up.
Tracking applications in multiple places creates confusion and errors.
Lack of visibility leads to stress, doubt, and declining motivation.
These insights formed the foundation of the product direction.
Defining the Workflow
I translated user insights into a simple system with clear progression states. Every step became trackable and visible. The workflow transformed noise into structure, helping users understand exactly where they are and what comes next.
Designing for Calm and Control
Job search tools often feel stressful. Mila had to feel the opposite.
I designed a calm interface with soft colors, generous spacing, and a guided layout that makes users feel supported. The dashboard surfaces only what matters: status, next steps, and progress. Every decision reinforces clarity.
Usability Testing & Iteration
I validated the experience through multiple rounds of usability testing.
Changes included simplifying the add-application flow, refining reminder settings, and clarifying status labels. Testing confirmed the final experience was intuitive, efficient, and emotionally supportive.
The Final Experience
Mila gives job seekers one home for their search.
Clear statuses. Smart reminders. Organized follow-up. A calm interface designed for clarity. Users stay informed, confident, and fully in control.
Traction & Early Outcomes
Early traction validated the need.
High onboarding completion, strong usability ratings, and a rapidly growing waitlist confirmed that Mila addresses one of the most overlooked challenges in job seeking. Users repeatedly described the experience as “relieving,” “finally organized,” and “exactly what I needed.”
